About the Indie Beauty Award

New York, May 2, 2007 - Cosmetic Executive Women (CEW) presented the annual Indie Beauty Award to skyn ICELAND on May 2nd at the 2007 CEW Beauty Awards Luncheon. The annual gala was held at the Waldorf-Astoria with 1400 beauty executives in attendance.

The Indie Beauty Award, which celebrates the creativity, originality and entrepreneurial spirit of a small independent beauty company, gives new beauty brands industry-wide recognition. "Much of the innovation that we are seeing in beauty comes from these enterprising young companies," says Carlotta Jacobson. "The Indie Beauty Award offers a spotlight to these start-ups that are working hard to break into a very competitive market. It's a huge boost for them to win."

Sarah Kugelman, President and Founder of skyn ICELAND, accepted the award from Linda Wells, Editor in Chief of Allure Magazine, who announced this year's winner.

Kugelman, who has worked in the beauty industry for over 18 years, told the crowd, "We're thrilled to be honored by CEW in the Indie beauty category. Our competitors are all remarkable, high-quality brands that create revolutionary beauty products. In true Indie spirit, we took a risk by creating skyn ICELAND which offers a way to finally manage the stress on our skin."

26 new privately-owned companies entered the 2007 Indie Beauty Awards. The winner was determined in a special vote by the CEW Board of Governors—more than 55 women seen as the industry's elite.
